Rachelle Courtney is an award winning jazz singer whose smooth vocal stylings have been compared to those of Norah Jones, and also to Ella Fitzgerald as an artist who really knows how to swing. Her renditions of the great American songbook are reminiscent of tradition but always with a flair for the contemporary; highlighting subtle nuances in a way that both soothes and inspires. Rachelle graduated with a Diploma of Musical Theatre from The Randolph Academy for the Performing Arts in Toronto before going on to complete a Bachelor of Music at Humber College in their internationally acclaimed jazz program. During her time at Humber, she was the recipient of the Thomas Kehoe Memorial Award and the Glenfiddich Musical Achievement Award for her skill as a jazz vocalist. Through a scholarship awarded by the University of Western Ontario, Rachelle went on to complete her Masters of Music and also enjoyed a teaching position within the Don Wright Faculty. As a passionate member of the professional jazz community, Rachelle performs regularly at concert halls, festivals, restaurants, bars, weddings and corporate functions throughout Canada and the United States. She has also completed six contracts as a featured vocalist with Celebrity and Holland America Cruise Lines, allowing her to tour the world. Rachelle’s debut album “Unforgettable”, which can be heard on radio stations nation wide including Canada’s Premier Jazz Station 91.1FM, has sold hundreds of copies internationally.
